We recently embarked on a new venture with Yello Barbados to produce a new series called ‘Yello Drive ‘Bout’, where we interviewed all the finalists of the Yello International Bashment Soca Monarch competition.
In this new series we took the finalists for a drive in a Hyundai Creta, provided by Courtesy Rent-a-Car Barbados, and explored their thoughts on Crop Over, bashment soca as a genre, the Yello International Bashment Soca Competition and sang their songs. This series was a lead up to the competition with the 10 finalists and the defending monarch, while also being a way to get them in a more candid atmosphere and provide a look behind the scenes at the musicians we know and love. Yello hopped on board with our initial idea and gave us free reign to work our magic and the Yello Drive ‘Bout was born.
Without any further ado, here are the videos of the contestants, including the defending champion, Lil Rick:
Last but not least, thank you to our sponsors! Without you, this series would not have been a success.
Thank you to Yello Barbados for coming on board as our title sponsor.
Thank you to Courtesy Rent-a-Car for generously providing us with the vehicle and believing in the project from the very first time we told you about it. Without you, all of this would not have been possible.
Thank you to Glacial Ice for coming on board as a sponsor as well once we told them about it.
Thank you to the National Cultural Foundation for constantly working with us and believing in us.
